The PDF Page Rotator is a free browser tool that rotates every page in a PDF document by 90, 180, or 270 degrees. It fixes sideways scans, corrects orientation mistakes, and prepares documents for printing — all without uploading your file to a server.

Why Rotate PDF Pages?

Misoriented pages are one of the most common PDF problems. Scanners often produce landscape documents in portrait orientation. Mobile scanning apps occasionally save pages upside-down. And mixed-orientation documents (some landscape, some portrait) are frustrating to read on screens. Rotating standardises everything.

How It Works

We use the pdf-lib library to load your PDF, iterate through every page object, and apply a rotation transformation. pdf-lib modifies the page dictionary's /Rotate entry, which tells PDF viewers to render the page at the specified angle. The content stream itself is not re-rendered or recompressed — only the orientation metadata changes — keeping the operation fast and lossless.

Rotation Angles

• 90° clockwise — fixes landscape documents scanned as portrait.
• 180° — flips upside-down pages right-side up.
• 270° clockwise (90° counter-clockwise) — alternative landscape fix for opposite scan direction.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rotate only specific pages?

Currently this tool rotates all pages uniformly. For page-specific rotation, use our PDF Page Extractor to pull individual pages, rotate them, and then merge them back together.

Does rotation affect file size?

File size usually stays nearly identical because only the rotation metadata is changed. pdf-lib re-encodes the document, so there may be minor fluctuations.

What if my PDF is password-protected?

Owner-password-protected PDFs can be processed if the password restricts permissions rather than encryption. User-password (open) protected PDFs must be unlocked first using our Remove PDF Password tool.

Is the rotation permanent?

Yes, the downloaded PDF has the new rotation baked into each page. You can always rotate again in the opposite direction to revert.
