Binary to Text Converter
Convert binary code to readable text instantly. Decode 8-bit ASCII / UTF-8 binary, space-separated or continuous. Free, private, browser-based. 100%.
How to use
Paste binary code — Enter binary as space-separated bytes (01001000 01101001) or one continuous string
See decoded text — Each 8-bit chunk is decoded to its ASCII / UTF-8 character in real time
Copy the result — One-click copy to clipboard for use anywhere
What Is Binary to Text Conversion?
Binary to text conversion reads groups of binary digits — usually 8 bits to a byte — and translates each group back into the human-readable character it represents. Every letter, digit, and symbol you see on a screen is stored internally as a number, and that number is stored as binary. This tool reverses the process: paste the binary, see the original text.
How Binary Encoding Works
The ASCII standard assigns numbers 0–127 to common characters; UTF-8 extends this for every script in the world while keeping ASCII compatible. The letter 'A' is decimal 65, hex 0x41, and binary 01000001. When you see a string of bits, each 8-bit chunk maps to exactly one byte, and that byte usually maps to one character (multi-byte UTF-8 characters take 2–4 bytes).
Continuous binary:0100100001100101011011000110110001101111 → "Hello" (must be a multiple of 8)
Newlines and extra spaces are tolerated and treated as separators.
Common Use Cases
CTF / cybersecurity puzzles: Capture-the-Flag challenges often hide flags in binary form.
Computer science homework: Verify a binary-encoding exercise gives the expected text.
Debugging encoding issues: When data arrives mangled, decoding raw bytes reveals what the system actually received.
Teaching: Demonstrate to students how computers store characters at the lowest level.
Limits and Edge Cases
Bytes outside the printable ASCII range may render as control characters or blank.
Multi-byte UTF-8 sequences are read byte-by-byte; the displayed character is whatever the browser's String.fromCharCode produces.
If a chunk contains characters other than 0 or 1, the tool stops and reports the offending sequence.
Privacy
The decoder runs entirely in JavaScript inside your browser tab. The binary you paste is never sent to a server, never written to a log, and never seen by any third party. Decode private keys, CTF flags, or any sensitive sequence with full confidence.
