Calculate discount savings and final prices with optional tax. See how much you save on any sale. Free, private, browser-based. 100% free and private.
A discount calculator determines how much you save and what you'll actually pay when an item is on sale. Enter the original price and the discount percentage, and the tool instantly shows your savings amount and the final price.
This tool also supports optional sales tax calculation. After the discount is applied, tax is computed on the reduced price — which is how sales tax works in most jurisdictions.
A percentage discount reduces the original price by that percentage. The formula is straightforward:
For example, a $120 item with a 25% discount: Savings = $30, Final Price = $90. With 8% tax: $90 × 1.08 = $97.20.
Multiple discounts applied sequentially are not the same as adding them together. A 20% discount followed by a 10% discount is not 30% off. Instead: $100 → $80 (20% off) → $72 (10% off $80) = 28% total discount. The order doesn't matter mathematically, but the total is always less than the sum of individual percentages.
In most places, sales tax is applied after the discount. This means you pay tax on the reduced price, not the original price. This tool correctly applies tax to the post-discount price. Some jurisdictions may have different rules for specific product categories.

Savings = Original Price × Discount % ÷ 100. Final Price = Original Price − Savings. If tax is specified, it's applied to the discounted price.
Yes. Enter the tax percentage and it will be applied to the discounted price, showing you the total amount you'll actually pay.
This calculator handles a single discount. For stacked discounts (e.g., 20% off then 10% off), apply them sequentially — the result differs from a single 30% discount.
Yes. The math is the same regardless of currency. The calculator works with any numerical values.
