What Is a Color Palette Generator?

A color palette generator creates harmonious color combinations from a single base color using color theory. It applies mathematical relationships on the color wheel to produce palettes that naturally look good together.

Color Harmony Types

  • Complementary: Two colors opposite on the wheel. High contrast, energetic.
  • Analogous: Three adjacent colors. Harmonious, calming.
  • Triadic: Three colors evenly spaced (120° apart). Vibrant, balanced.
  • Split-complementary: Base + two colors adjacent to its complement. Softer contrast.
  • Tetradic: Four colors forming a rectangle. Rich, diverse.

Building Design Systems

Start with a brand color, generate a palette, then create tints (add white) and shades (add black) for each color. This gives you a complete design system with primary, secondary, accent, and neutral colors — all mathematically harmonious.

How are the extra colors generated?

Beyond the scheme colors, the tool generates lighter and darker variants of your base color for a complete palette.

Can I use these commercially?

Yes. Colors generated from mathematical relationships are not copyrightable.
